China Beach Retreat

China Beach Retreat is in an amazing location: a private cove near the mouth of the Columbia River. The old house has been remodelled to enhance its bird and river watching views of the tidal marshes. Nature far surpasses any garden we could create here, but we have made a long border along the entry drive and have planted Narcissi, Gunnera, and Siberian and Japanese Iris along the two natural streams that flow through the property. We created the flower gardens at China Beach Retreat from its beginning as a guest house, and worked there until early 2009.
